All projects are in line with our criteria to affect children, education and learning particularly within communities where these projects offered experiences and value to children that these opportunities wouldn’t normally be available. Keep an eye out on our socials for project updates.

Grove Cottage, Bishop's Stortford
Grant recipients Grove Cottage based in Bishop's Stortford recently wrote to us to share how the grant that we gave them to fund their “Saturday Club” project for children with a learning disability had been used.
“Our Saturday Clubs provide our young beneficiaries with a safe place to go and an opportunity to make friends which has a huge impact on their mental health and wellbeing. In addition, the club provides parents and carers with respite and the chance to spend time with their other children
The grant from BNI helped us to continue providing our Cottage Kids Saturday Clubs from July to December 2022 to children with a learning disability aged between five and twelve years old. All sessions were fully booked. We currently have a waiting list and from initial enquiry to booking a session is currently around 4/6 months meaning that we can’t meet our current demand, so grants from organisations like yours are a vital lifeline.
We are very grateful your support which helped us to continue running our Cottage Kids Saturday Club, thank you. Every donation, no matter its size, makes a difference to our beneficiaries.”
Children Today, Chester
We were pleased to provide a £1000 grant to fund specialised adapted equipment for children and families through Chester based Charity
Children Today Charitable Trust
Here’s how their grant helped:
“Thank you for supporting Children Today. The grant meant that we could help as many disabled children and young people as possible around the UK. The equipment has improved mental health and reduced isolation. A new trike for one child meant that they can go and play with siblings and friends and it has provided greater freedom and independence for them.
The whole Grant process was nice and easy and we are very grateful to have been chosen for a grant.”
Here is some great feedback from Clearvision, who received a grant from the BNI Foundation UK last year.
ClearVision is a postal lending library of children’s books designed to be shared by visually impaired and sighted children.
"We expanded our “Supportive Stories” selection (see photo attached); books which gently tackle subjects such as mental health, managing emotions, empathy and handling uncertainty.
Your grant has enabled us to add a strong selection of these; the most popular are probably the ‘Big Bright Feelings’ books by Tom Percival, but all are frequently requested by school staff and families to help children cope with the fallout of the pandemic and the re-opening of the world. We have been contacted by our borrowers who have stated that the library has been a much-needed source of inspiration and support to their family. Several have used the words “invaluable” and “lifeline”.
92% of our family borrower respondents said they enjoyed sharing our books with their family (this is particularly significant, as many children do not initially feel positive about learning to read, and learning braille is more challenging than learning to read print).
92% said that ClearVision books have helped their child’s education, learning or development.
89% said that using our books helped their child feel more included, at home, school or with friends, with 70% saying it made them feel much more included.
86% said that since joining our library, their child/ren had become more enthusiastic about sharing, reading or exploring books.
This is incredibly positive; solid confirmation that our library works well and is having the impact we’d envisaged. Your grant has helped make these positive changes for these children."
We're so glad that a grant from the BNI Foundation UK has made such a big difference to this charity and to children who are visually impaired throughout the UK.
